Introduction: Menopausal period is a developmental while critical period associated with complications and outcomes which can affect the life quality of a woman and weaken her wellbeing and health. Due to the increasing elderly population in the country and the importance of accurate information for planning for screening, preventing and reducing the complications, the purpose of the present study was to assess the life quality of menopausal women and its related factors.
Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 400 menopause women above 50 year-old, hospitalized in general wards at Imam Reza Hospital of Amol (2010). Samples were selected by goal-based sampling method and their personal willingness. In order to assess quality of life of samples, at first demographic data were collected and then the standard scale of quality of life for menopausal period menopause quality of life was used. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS statistical software version 16, and descriptive-analytic statistical methods including chi square, independent T-test, Pearson correlation coefficient. P value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: In this study total score of quality of life of women was in the middle range. Most of the women had middle range scores quality of lives in vasomotor (70.03%), psychosocial (69.34%), physical (45.57%), and sexual relationship disorders (54.68%) categories. There was a meaningful relationship between aging and total score of quality of life (p=0.001). And also between quality of life and athletic activities (p=0.002), economic satisfaction (p=0.04), sexual relationship satisfaction (p=0.001), and level of education (p=0.01).
Conclusion: Due to the findings of this study, the qualities of lives of menopause women were in the middle range and decreased by aging.
