Introduction: Uterine bleeding that deviates from the normal pattern or volume has a high prevalence, and it is essential to know the appropriate treatment to reduce this complication. Therefore, the aim of this study. is to investigate the effect of acupuncture in the treatment of patients with abnormal uterine bleeding
Materials and Method: The study was conducted on 38 patients (19 patients in the intervention group (acupuncture with drug treatment) and 19 patients in the control group (drug treatment without acupuncture). The patients were randomly divided into two groups and then the bleeding and its pattern in the patients of the two groups were compared. Chi-square, Fisher's exact and Mann-Whitney tests were used to compare the data.
Results: The findings of our study showed that in examining the therapeutic outcomes, the use of acupuncture in the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, cycle frequency, duration and severity of bleeding were also not different in the two study groups 3 and 6 months after treatment.
Conclusion: In the present study, no evidence was found in favor of the effect of acupuncture on improving the conditions of patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. However, more extensive studies are needed.
