Abstract
Introduction: In vitro fertilization or IVF is one of the methods of assisted reproductive technology. The key to the success of IVF is the acceptance of the endometrium for implantation. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between successful embryo implantation in IVF cycles and the findings of uterine and ovarian arteries blood flow by vaginal color Doppler ultrasonography.
Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort, infertile women who were candidates for IVF were included in the study. On the day of embryo transfer, patients underwent Doppler ultrasound of uterine and ovarian vessels. Resistance and pulsatility indexes were recorded along with uterine endothelial
thickness. The qualitative level of βhCG on the 12th day was considered as the outcome. Data were analyzed in SPSS software version 27.
Results: 105 women undergoing IVF in two groups with successful outcome (35 people) and unsuccessful outcome (70 people) were included in the study. The average Resistance Index (RI) and Pulsatility Index (PI) difference was significant only in the case of RI of the subendothelial vessels (P=0/023). Only RI index of uterine subendothelial vessels with was insignificantly and weakly
(P=0.12(predicting the outcome of IVF success.
Conclusion: The average uterine and ovarian artery Doppler indices, especially the uterine subendothelial vessel resistance index, can be used as an additional predictive parameter of IVF success.
