Background: Cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy is considered a life-threatening condition with a very high risk for uterine rupture and all related maternal complications. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the consequences and complications of different treatment methods for Cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy
Materials and methods: This study was conducted retrospectively. Information of 120 patients with ectopic pregnancy with cesarean scar who were treated with one of the methods of laparotomy, hysteroscopy and curettage, hysteroscopy and curettage after systemic methotrexate, systemic methotrexate or systemic methotrexate + potassium hydroxide in the years 2016 to 2021 at Alavi Medical Training Center in Ardabil were included in the study.
Results: The average age of the patients in the present study was 30.6±3.2 years. The pre-treatment level of β-HCG was less than 5000 in 37 cases (30.8%) and more than 5000 in 83 cases (69.2%). Comparison of results in different treatment methods in terms of complete mass analysis (p<0.001), duration of hospitalization (p=0.001), need for blood transfusion during hospitalization (p=0.001), amount of blood lost during surgery (p=0.001) and β-HCG normalization speed (p=0.001) were significantly different; However, secondary infection (p=0.15) and hysterectomy performed (p=0.17) in different treatment methods had no statistically significant difference.
Conclusion: According to the findings of pregnant women with csep combined treatment including methotrexate and hysteroscopy along with curettage had the most success and the least complications.
