[English]

Introduction: Advances in science and technology have led to increasing human lifespan and also the aging phenomenon. With regard to the importance of appropriate designing and planning to maintain and promote health, quality of life, and independence in cognitive and functional activities of the elderly … population, and increasing the aging phenomenon in the world, so, this study was performed with aim to assess the studies about designing the exercise program with elastic band in old women and its effects on their health.
Methods: This is a review study which was performed by the international and Persian databases of Magiran ،Google scholar ،Scopus ،Iran Medex ،SID ،PubMed. The articles' searching was performed without time limitation using the keywords of elastic band, exercise program, elderly women's. All reviewed articles that met the inclusion criteria were evaluated.
Results: Among 84 primary articles, 44 articles by checking the title and abstract were excluded due to being repetitive or irrelevant, and 33 articles were excluded for other reasons, and finally, 7 articles which had assessed designing an exercise program using an elastic band in elderly women were studied. Most studies had mentioned the positive effects of exercise program using an elastic band in elderly women (significant effects on the metabolic syndrome indicators, improve performance and increase muscle strength and endurance, fat-free mass and fat mass).
Conclusion: Regarding to the positive effects of exercise by elastic band in elderly women, it is recommended that exercises program using elastic bands be considered in planning the elderly women's care because of the ease of access, cheapness and safety.
