Abstract
Introduction: Perinatal mortality is one of the stressful events with harmful and psychological effects in women’s life which influences their quality of life. This study was performed with aim to deeply understand the mothers' experience of perinatal death.
Methods: This qualitative study was conducted at Urmia city in 2012. Sampling was performed as purposeful method and 14 mothers with experience of perinatal death were interviewed. Constant comparative analysis was used to analyze data.
Results: The experience of mothers compatibility with perinatal death and its related factors was obtained in 24 sub-themes that of these classes, four main themes were appeared including "need to be understood", "forgetfulness", "self-justification" and "hope to the birth of a healthy baby in the future".
Conclusion:According to the results of this study when the mothers are exposed to perinatal death try to forget it with their justification in order to hope to the next pregnancy and they need to be understood during this process. Offering palliative and supportive service by care system facilitates this process.
