Evaluation of recurrence and survival rate of patients with cervical cancer admitted in Shohada Tajrish Hospital during 10 years

Abstract

Background & Purpose : Cervical cancer is the seventh most common cancer in the world and the fourth cause of death from malignancy in women. There are few cervical cancer studies in our country.

Methods: Current research is a cross-sectional descriptive study. Demographic information, grade of pathology, tumor type , HPVwas extracted from the patient documents. Statistical analysis of patient survival was estimated with the Kaplan-Meier method. Thus, all stages of data analysis were done with using SPSS statistical software.

Results: The present study consists of 211 patients with an average age of 53.6 ± 13.14. The average survival of the patients was 78.933 months. A significant difference was observed in the overall survival curve in the age group ≤ 45 compared to group> 45, the survival curve of patients with grade I and grade II pathology, the average survival time of patients with and without recurrence of the disease and the average survival time of HPV positive and negative patients (P = 0.00).

Conclusion: The age of the patients, the grade of the pathology , the recurrence of the disease and HPV Influence on the survival rate of the patients.
