Abstract
Background and Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate the weight of babies in primiparous mothers under 18 years old and over 35 years old.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the files of 200 primiparous pregnant mothers with singleton pregnancies under 18 years and over 35 years of age who referred to Tehran Azad University hospitals between 1401 and 1400 were selected and evaluated. Required background information such as gestational age, baby's gender, mother's age, mother's body mass index, family income, mother's and father's education, and newborn's birth weight were entered as dependent variables in the prepared checklist. The information was entered into SPSS version statistical software. 26 and analyzed. A significance level of 0.05 was considered.
Results 200 samples with an mean birth weight of 2836.15± 842.939 grams and an mean gestational age of 33.92± 8.478 weeks were evaluated and it was found that: 65.0% of mothers were over 35 years old, between 18-35, 27.5% and 7.5% were under 18 years old. According to the multiple linear regression test, there was a significant relationship between the birth weight of babies with the age of the mother, gestational age and gender (p<0.05).
Conclusion:
The findings of this study indicate that maternal age, gestational age, and the gender of the baby significantly affect birth weight. Specifically, babies born to mothers over 35 years of age tend to have different birth weight outcomes compared to those born to younger mothers, particularly those under 18 years old.
