Investigation of the relationship between menstrual disorders and blood pressure disorders in pregnancy: a systematic review of observational studies

Abstract

Introduction: Blood pressure disorders in pregnancy are considered as the main causes of perinatal complications.Considering the importance of this disorder, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between menstrual disorders and blood pressure disorders in pregnancy.



Methodology: This is a study in 2023 with steps, study question design, search, which is in SID, PubMed, magiran, Iran doc, Science Direct, Scopus and Google scholar search engine with main keywords "related factors", "menstrual disorders", "disorders" "Blood pressure in pregnancy" and their Persian equivalent were done. After that, identifying related studies from the period of 2007 to 2023 and selecting studies, after screening the title, abstract and full text of 1473 studies, finally 6 studies were left to announce the results.The quality screening of the studies was done by Strobe evaluation checklist. Then the findings were classified.



Results: The results of the present study are taken from 6 studies; which according to the type of variable examined in their research into four categories, the relationship between blood pressure disorders in pregnancy and amenorrhea, hypermenorrhea and blood pressure disorders in pregnancy, dysmenorrhea and blood pressure disorders in pregnancy, irregular menstruation and blood pressure disorders in pregnancy were divided



Conclusion: Studies show that there is a relationship between menstrual disorders and blood pressure in pregnancy.But since the number of studies in this field was limited, it seems that more and better quality studies are needed to access stronger evidence.
