Introduction: Self-efficacy is the main factor for creating the behavior and performance of human. Spiritual intelligence as the foundation of human beliefs makes the impact on performance and better compatibility with problems. Midwives are the primary provider of health care services to patients and their performance greatly determine the quality of health care. Therefore, this study was performed with aim to determine the relationship between spiritual intelligence andself-efficacy of clinical performance in midwives.
Methods: This correlative study was conducted on 232 midwives working in health centers and maternities in academic hospital of Mashhad University of Medical Science hospitals in 2015. Data was collected by demographic, Badie spiritual intelligence and Cheraghi Self-efficacy of Clinical Performance questionnaire. Data was analyzed by SPSS software (version 16) and Spearman correlation coefficient, Mann-Whitney and Chi-square tests. PResults: The majority of subjects had strong spiritual intelligence (56.5%) and high self-efficacy of clinical performance (59.5%). The results of Spearman correlation coefficient test showed a significant direct correlation between spiritual intelligence and self-efficacy of clinical performance (P<0.0001, r=0.4).
Conclusion: According to the importance of self-efficacy and clinical performance of midwives in providing health care for mothers and newborns and considering the significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and self-efficacy, we can perform a step to improve self-efficacy of midwives through designing the training and retraining programs.
