Objective: Breast pain is one of the most common complaints of mothers after childbirth. One important cause of breast pain in the first days after delivery is Engorgement. Reflexology causes deep relaxation of muscles, stimulation of blood circulation and lymph, release of endorphin and control of pain. This study was done to investigate the effect of foot reflexology on the severity of breast pain due to breast engorgement.
Methods: This randomized clinical trial study was performed on 80 mothers during the first to fifth days after delivery in Mashhad Health Center No. 1. Subjects were divided into two groups of foot reflexology and routine care. Pain severity was determined by visual analogue scale. The validity of the questionnaires was evaluated by content validity and reliability of the tool by equivalency method. P value less than 0.05 was significant. Results: Mean pain intensity decreased after intervention in foot reflexology group and control group. However, pain intensity in foot reflexology group was significantly lower than control group (P
