Due to the lack of understanding of the exact etiology of this syndrome, several treatments have been proposed. One of the therapeutic methods is use of medicinal plants. This study was performed with aim to investigate the effect of valerian on the severity of premenstrual syndrome symptoms. Methods: This double-blind clinical trial was performed on 120 female students with premenstrual syndrome symptoms who were resident in female student dormitory of Rasht Islamic Azad University in 2013. They were randomly divided into two groups of case (n=60) and control (n=60). The intervention group received valerian oral capsule (530 mg Valerian root) twice a day at least 7 days before the start of menstruation for two consecutive cycles, and placebo group received placebo capsule (50 mg of carbohydrate) with same condition. Data collection tool was Dickerson questionnaire. The severity of premenstrual syndrome symptoms was determined and then was compared with 1 and 2 months after the intervention. Data was analyzed with SPSS statistical software  (version 22), and t-test, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney, Friedman, and Wilcoxon tests. PResults: In this study, the severity of mood, physical, and behavioral symptoms and overall severity of premenstrual syndrome symptoms had a significant reduction in the intervention group than the control group 1 and 2 months after using lavender (P<0.001). Conclusion: Valerian is effective on the reduction of the severity of mood, physical, behavioral and total symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. Therefore, it is recommended for premenstrual syndrome.}, keywords = {Medicinal Plants,Premenstrual Syndrome,valerian}, title_fa = {تأثیر سنبل الطیب بر شدت علائم سندرم پیش از قاعدگی}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه: سندرم پیش از قاعدگی مجموعه ای گسترده از علائم خلقی، جسمی و رفتاری است که به صورت دوره‌ای، قبل از قاعدگی رخ می‌دهد و بر فعالیت ‌های روزانه و کیفیت زندگی زنان تأثیر منفی می‌گذارد. با توجه به عدم شناخت علت دقیق این سندرم درمان های متعددی برای آن پیشنهاد شده است. یکی از روش های درمانی استفاده از گیاهان دارویی است. مطالعه حاضر با هدف تعیین تأثیر سنبل الطیب بر شدت علائم سندرم قبل از قاعدگی انجام شد. روش کار: این مطالعه کارآزمایی بالینی دوسوکور در سال 1392 بر روی 120 نفر از دانشجویان دارای علائم سندرم پیش از قاعدگی ساکن در خوابگاه ‌های دانشجویی دخترانه دانشگاه آزاد اسلامی رشت انجام شد. افراد به صورت تصادفی به دو گروه 60 نفره مداخله و شاهد تقسیم شدند. گروه مداخله کپسول خوراکی والرین حاوی ٥٣٠ میلی گرم ریشه گیاه سنبل الطیب دو بار در روز حداقل 7 روز قبل از شروع قاعدگی به مدت دو سیکل متوالی و گروه دارونما کپسول‌های مشابه حاوی50 میلی گرم نشاسته را با همان شرایط دریافت کردند. ابزار گردآوری داده ها پرسشنامه دیکرسون بود. شدت علائم قبل از درمان تعیین و با یک ماه و دو ماه بعد از درمان مقایسه شد. تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها با استفاده از نرم افزار SSPS آماری (نسخه 22) و آزمون های تی تست، کای دو، من ویتنی و فریدمن و ویلکاکسون انجام شد. میزان p کمتر از 05/0 معنی دار در نظر گرفته شد. یافته‌ها: در این مطالعه شدت علائم خلقی، جسمانی، رفتاری و شدت کلی علائم سندرم پیش از قاعدگی 1 و 2 ماه بعد از مصرف سنبل الطیب در گروه مداخله کاهش معناداری نسبت به گروه شاهد داشت (001/0p<). نتیجه‌گیری: سنبل الطیب در کاهش شدت علائم خلقی، جسمانی، رفتاری و شدت کلی علائم سندرم پیش از قاعدگی مؤثر است. بنابراین استفاده از آن برای سندرم پیش از قاعدگی توصیه می شود.}, keywords_fa = {سنبل الطیب,سندرم پیش از قاعدگی,گیاهان دارویی}, url = {https://ijogi.mums.ac.ir/article_4881.html}, eprint = {https://ijogi.mums.ac.ir/article_4881_8a12964bdab48cdac3a49671d09140e0.pdf} }
