About 30 percent of them show symptoms of lack of ovulation in the form of primary amenorrhea or secondary amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of menstrual disorders in 14 to 18 years-old girls of high schools of Shiraz city and its association with polycystic ovary syndrome. Methods: This cross-sectional study was held on 3200 girls in age 14 to 18 years-old in high schools of Shiraz city in year 2010. Data were collected through a questionnaire containing personal information, clinical parameters of hyperandrogenism and tests results. Tests including prolactin (to reject hyperprolactinemia disease), dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (to exclude adrenal disease), total and free testosterone, thyroid hormone (to exclude hypothyroidism) were performed. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS statistical software version 11.5, Fisher, Chi-square, independent-T tests. P value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: 670 patients (12 %) had menstrual irregularities and 144 cases (4.6 %) suffered from oligomenorrhea. Based on Fisher test, there was a significant relationship between patients with oligomenorrhea and polycystic ovaries in comparison patients with oligomenorrhea and without polycystic ovaries (p<0.001). 21 persons (14.4%) had oligomenorrhea, hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovaries and there was a significant difference between them and without oligomenorrhea and hyperandrogenism (p<0.05). Also 19.9% of girls with hyperthyroidism and clinical androgenic oligomenorrhea were not significantly associated with patients who did not suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (p<0.001). Conclusion: Menstruation disorder, especially oligomenorrhea is associated with polycystic ovary syndrome and this disorder at the age of menarche may cause ovulation disorders and complications resulting from increased estrogen and androgen abnormalities in following years.}, keywords = {Girls,Menstrual disorders,Polycystic ovary syndrome}, title_fa = {بررسی شیوع اختلالات قاعدگی در دختران 14 تا 18 ساله دبیرستان های شهر شیراز و ارتباط آن با سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه: تقریباً 66 درصد از نوجوانان مبتلا به سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک، تخمک گذاری ندارند. حدود 30 درصد از آنها دارای علائم عدم تخمک گذاری می باشند که ممکن است به صورت آمنوره اولیه یا آمنوره ثانویه، الیگومنوره باشد. مطالعه حاضر با هدف بررسی میزان شیوع اختلالات قاعدگی در دختران 14 تا 18 ساله دبیرستان های شهر شیراز و ارتباط آن با سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک انجام شد. روش‌کار: این مطالعه توصیفی مقطعی در سال 1388 جهت سنجش شیوع اختلال قاعدگی و تعیین ارتباط آن با سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک بر روی 3200 دانش آموز دختر 18-14 ساله که در دبیرستان های دخترانه شیراز مشغول به تحصیل بودند، انجام شد. ابزار گردآوری داده ها پرسشنامه شامل مشخصات فردی، ویژگی بالینی هیپرآندروژنیسم و نتایج آزمایشات بود. آزمایشات شامل: پرولاکتین (برای رد هیپرپرولاکتینمی)، دی هیدرواپی آندرستن دیون سولفات (برای رد بیماری های آدرنال)، تستوسترون توتال و آزاد، هورمون محرک تیروئید (برای رد هیپوتیروئیدی) انجام شد. داده ها پس از گردآوری با استفاده از نرم افزار آماری SPSS (نسخه 5/11) و آزمون های فیشر، کای اسکوئر و تی مستقل مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت. میزان p کمتر از 05/0 معنی دار در نظر گرفته شد. یافته‌ها: 670 نفر (12%) دچار بی نظمی قاعدگی و 144 نفر (6/4%) دچار الیگومنوره بودند. بر اساس آزمون فیشر، ارتباط معنی داری بین افراد مبتلا به الیگومنوره و تخمدان پلی کیستیک در مقایسه با افراد دچار الیگومنوره و غیر مبتلا به تخمدان پلی کیستیک وجود داشت (001/0>p). 21 نفر (4/14%) از افراد دارایالیگومنوره و هیپرآندروژنیسم و تخمدان پلی کیستیکبودند و بین این افراد و افراد غیر مبتلا تفاوت معنی داری وجود داشت (05/0>p). همچنین 9/19% از افراد دارای هیپرآندروژنیسم بالینی و الیگومنوره بودند که ارتباط معنی داری با غیر مبتلایان داشتند  (001/0>p). نتیجه‌گیری: اختلالات قاعدگی به خصوص اولیگومنوره، با سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک ارتباط دارد و این اختلال در سنین پس از منارک می تواند شروعی برای اختلالات تخمک گذاری و عوارض ناشی از افزایش غیر طبیعی استروژن و آندروژن ها در سال های بعد باشد.}, keywords_fa = {اختلالات قاعدگی,تخمدان پلی کیستیک,دختران}, url = {https://ijogi.mums.ac.ir/article_101.html}, eprint = {https://ijogi.mums.ac.ir/article_101_52d951e1429d7edcaa85e2527a92fbbe.pdf} }
